Freight train derailed in Russia's Far East region

Moscow [Russia], January 9: A freight train on Monday evening collided with an empty train when running along the Trans-Baikal Railway, causing 14 of its carriages to derail, said the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
"The accident occurred on the Bushuley-Aleur section, where the middle part of the locomotive of an empty freight train traveling in the opposite direction hit the carriages of a loaded freight train. The traffic was suspended in both directions," the ministry said.
The accident took place at 19:17 Moscow time (1517 GMT). Several passenger trains were delayed due to the accident.
Passenger trains No. 2 Moscow-Vladivostok and No. 392 Chita-Blagoveshchensk were halted at the Chernyshevsk station, Russian Railways said on Telegram.
No casualties or environmental threats were reported and the causes of the incident are being investigated, it added.
